Vinayaka Chavithi is the birthday of Lord Ganesha, the God
of wisdom, prosperity and auspiciousness. Vinayaka Chavithi 2013 date is
September 9, Monday. Chavithi is the
fourth day during the lunar fortnight in a traditional Hindu calendar. Vinayaka
Chavithi is mostly a day festival in homes but public celebrations are
organized for 12 days and will end with sarvajanik visarjan on Ananta
Chaturdasi day - September 18, 2013.
The term Vinayaka Chavithi is widely used in Andhra Pradesh
to refer to Ganesh Chaturthi Festival.
One of the tallest Ganesh murti for the annual festival is
prepared in Andhra Pradesh – Khairatabad Ganesha.
