Today, January 28, 2012, is fifth day (Panchami) during the
waxing phase of moon (Shukla Paksha) as per traditional Hindu lunar calendar.
The spring festival of Basant Panchami is observed on the day in north and
western parts of India
Saraswati
Jayanti or Saraswati Puja is observed in all regions except in South India .
In South India ,
especially in Andhra Pradesh, the day is observed as Shri Panchami.
