Varaha Temple at Tirupati

Temples dedicated to the Varaha Avatar, or Boar Incarnation, of Hindu God Vishnu are far and few. One of the most popular temples dedicated to Varah Murti is located at Tirupati – on the west bank of the Swami Pushkarini at the TirupatiBalajiTemple. It is believed that the murti of Varaha at Tirupati is older than the murti of Venkateswara at TirupatiBalajiTemple. Tirumala Tirupati is also referred as Varaha Kshetra in many ancient texts. The puja at the VarahaTemple is observed first – before the puja at the BalajiTemple. The food offerings are made at the same time.

Happiness begins with you, wherever you are, in whatever conditions or country or circumstances. Your happiness lies within you, not without; it is a state of mind. Swami Premananda Baba
