Achala Saptami 2025 date – Importance of Achhala 7

Achala Saptami, also known as Achhala 7, is observed on the seventh day of the Shukla Paksha or waxing phase of moon in Magh month. Achala Saptami 2025 date is February 4.  Achala Saptami is dedicated to Surya, the Sun God in Hinduism. The ritual is popularly known as Ratha Saptami.

Those observing the Achala Saptami only take a single meal on the previous day. On the Saptami day, they take bath during sunrise and chant gayatri mantra. It is believed that observing this vrat will help in attaining prosperity. It is also observed for removing skin related diseases.


Saptami, or seventh day, in a fortnight in a Hindu lunar calendar is usually dedicated to Surya. Bhanu Saptami is another similar festival observed during different periods in a year.

Prayers dedicated to Surya like the Aditya Hridayam is chanted on the day.
