Goddess Vakula Devi, or Vakulamata Devi, is the mother of Hindu God Venkateswara as per certain Hindu traditions. A temple dedicated to Goddess Vakulamata is located facing the TirupatiBalajiTemple at Perurbanda village. Goddess Vakula Devi is the incarnation of Mother Yashoda – foster mother of Sri Krishna. Legend has it that Mother Yashoda could not witness the marriage of Sri Krishna with Rukmini. To console Her, Sri Krishna promised that when he will appear as Venkateswara during the kali yuga and she will be his foster mother and will get the opportunity to witness His marriage. Mother Yashoda thus had the fortune of being the mother Venkateswara in Kali Yuga. As promised it was Goddess Vakula Devi who went to King Akasa Raja to ask Goddess Padmavati’s hand in marriage. It was she who conducted the marriage of Padmavati and Venkateswara.
