Hindu American Seva Charities initiates ShaktiSeva for Woman to Listen, Learn and Inspire

Hindu American Seva Charities, a progressive, non-religious, American organization promoting pluralism, tolerance, social justice, health service, civic engagement and advancing interfaith and community service, is initiating ShaktiSeva to highlight the strength in the woman and bring in the forefront the energy within oneself, during the celebrations, through dialogues, telling and sharing stories, helping women’s organizations.  The theme of ShaktiSeva program is ‘Listen, Learn and Inspire’ each other and is part of Navratri celebrations. Padmanabha Vrata 2017 date - Padmanabha Dwadasi Vrata

Padmanabha Vrata is dedicated to the Ananta Padmanaba form of Sri Hari Vishnu. Padmanabha Vrata 2017 date is October 2. It is observed on the 12th day during the Shukla Paksha or waxing phase of moon in Ashwin month. The importance of the Vrata is mentioned in the Narada Purana.

It is believed that a person who worships Vishnu on Padmanabha Dwadashi helps attain liberation. Fasting is from Dwadasi morning to next day morning. Pujas and prayers dedicated to the Ananta Padmanaba form of Sri Hari Vishnu is performed morning and evening.

Kojagari Vrat 2017 Date - Kojagari Vratha in 2017

Kojagari Vrata is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi and is observed on the full moon day or Purnima in Ashwina month. Kojagari Vrata 2017 date is October 5. In Hinduism, Goddess Lakshmi symbolizes prosperity and wealth and it is believed that on Poornima night she visits the homes of devotees and blesses them. Therefore special Lakshmi Puja is held in the evening on the day in homes and a Vrata is kept on the day.

Kojagari Vrata is more popular in South India and western parts of India. In eastern parts of India, the day is popularly known as Kojagari Lakshmi Puja.

Special vegetarian dishes, fruits and sweets are offered to Goddess Lakshmi on the day.
