Randhan Chath 2017 date

Randhan Chath is a ritual observed in Gujarat in Shravan month and is sort of a preparation for Shitala Satam which occurs on the next day. Randhan Chath 2017 date is August 13. It is observed on the sixth day of the Krishna Paksha (waning phase of moon) in Shravan month. The day is meant for preparing food (randhan) for the next day, which is Shitala Satam day.

Food items that are prepared on Randhan Chath are those that will stay for 24-hours. All women in the family participate in the cooking. Some people opt for spicy and fried food.

After the cooking is over on Randhan Chath, the earthen hearth is cleaned using cow dung. The ash remains in the hearth and is sort of an offering to Goddess Shitala on the next day.

Swami Brahmdev Quotes

When a sculptor takes a stone, he removes all the unwanted parts and discovers the figure in that stone. Pain and pressure in life are processes that help remove all unwanted substances from our lives and realise our true Self. What causes you pain often turns out to be the most beautiful blessing of your life. If any source gives you pain, feel gratitude for that. For suffering creates the opportunity for change. Sometimes we need pressure and pain to make us change for the better. Aurobindo said that pain is a hammer in the hands of the Divine. Divinity is trying to make a true figure; He is removing all the unwanted substances very slowly, and all around you, for some it could also be their near and dear. Swami Brahmdev
