Human beings are constantly trying to imagine the Supreme Being (which is formless) in a form (murti or statue or idol) to offer worship, prayers, pujas and rituals. People want the murtis of gods to be the costliest, tallest and biggest. Here is a list of top 10 tallest Hindu God Murtis (Statue or idols) in the World. Currently the tallest Hindu murti is the Shiva at Sanga in Nepal which was inaugurated in 2010.
As per Hindu tradition, the Supreme Truth (Brahman) is beyond imagination. But human beings need a form to worship and we modern day people are obsessed with size and height. So we are constantly increasing the size of Hindu Murtis. Therefore this list will be constantly updated.
Veera Abhaya Anjaneya Hanuman Swami at Paritala near Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh in India – 135 feet (41 m)
Shiva at Murudeshwara in Karnataka in India – 122 feet (37 meter)
Hanuman Murti at Nandura in Maharashtra in India – 105 feet (32 meter)
Shiva of the Har-ki-Pauri at Haridwar in Uttarakhand in India – 100 feet (30.5 meter)
Ganesha - Chinmaya Ganadhish at Kolhapur in Maharashtra in India – 85 feet (26 meter)

dog.... Supreme Being (which is formless)??????...People want the murtis of gods to be the costliest, tallest and biggest??????......this is not a Hindu blog.
if you don't understand the teachings of Hinduism at least keep quiet do not criticize people who are trying to spread true things...
Human mind cannot imagine the Supreme Being he is formless - God is as small as the smallest thing you have imagined and as biggest you can imagine.
All these murtis are just an attempt nothing is complete.
I suggest the author to moderate such senseless comments, before they are published. BTW the reply is perfect.

Very beautiful idols. They are here for us to realise that God is much much greater than us.Plz come to Mauritius to Ganga Talao where you will see the 108 feet shiva Murti

wow! these are wonderful statues.
Hindu theology that teaches that God is ultimately formless, nirvishesh brahman, is only one of the prominent points of view in our diverse Hindu tradition. To be fair, many Hindus know God as the supreme savishesh brahman, the Supreme Lord that has form, personality, and divine lila. Attributing formlessness to the Lord is only one point of view.
Thanks for the great photos...
Amazing, those statues are massive!
