Hanumanth Vratam, or Hanumand Vrat, is observed by certain Hindu communities in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka on the 13th day of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Margashirsh as per traditional Hindu calendar followed in these regions. Hanumanth Vratam 2012 date is December 25. Pampa Puja and Hanuman Pooja are observed on the day.
A thread containing 13 knots is tied by Hanuman devotees on the Vrat day. The mantra that is chanted while tying the 13-knot thread is ‘OM Namo Vayunandanaya OM.’ Then prayers are offered Hanuman at a temple or at home.
Donating wheat to poor people on the day is considered highly meritorious.
