Pitru Paksha 2017 dates



Pitru Paksha 2017 based on Hindu calendar – India Standard Time. Pitru Paksha 2017 begins on September 6 and ends on September 19. In Hinduism, Pitru Paksha is the rituals performed by relatives for the departed souls of dead ancestors, parents and relatives. Below are the Mahalaya Pitru Paksha 2017 dates. Tarpan and Shradh are performed on all Amavasi or no moon days. But the most important period to perform Shradh is the Pitru Paksha period during the Krishna Paksha fortnight in Ashwin month (September – October). In some regions this period is the Bhadrapad Krishna Paksha.

September 13, 2017 – Ashtami Shradh
September 14, 2017 – Navami Shradh - Avidhava Navami Shradh - For women who passed when there husbands were alive.
September 15, 2017 – Dasami Shradh
September 16, 2017 – Ekadashi Shradh
September 17, 2017 – Dwadashi Shradh
September 17, 2017 – Trayodashi Shradh
September 18, 2017 – Chaturdashi Shradh
September 19, 2017 – Mahalaya Amavasi – Most important day of Shradh

Note - Dwadasi and Trayodasi Shradh are marked on same date September 18, 2017 in calendars followed in western parts of India.

Please note that Amavasya is on September 20 but as majority tithi is on Sept 19, Mahalaya will be obeserved on Sept 19.
