Bhadrapada Masa 2012 – Telugu Bhadrapad Month in Andhra Pradesh

Bhadrapada Masa is the sixth month in a traditional Hindu Telugu calendar followed in Andhra Pradesh. Telugu Bhadrapad Masam 2012 is from September 17 to October 15. Some of the auspicious days in the month include Vinayaka Chavithi or Ganesh Chaturthi, Swarna Gouri Vratam, Rishi Panchami, Jyeshta Devi Puja, Ananta Chaturdashi and Proshtapadi Shraddha.

Note - There is Adhika Bhadarpad Month in 2012.

Some Hindu communities perform Tarpan and Shradh for dead parents and relatives during the Mahalaya Krishna Paksha period of Bhadrapada month.

Telugu Bhadrapada Masa Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha
Bhadrapada Masa Telugu calendar 2012 Shukla Paksha (Waxing phase of moon) is from September 17, 2012 to September 30, 2012.
Telugu Bhadrapad Masam 2012 Krishna Paksha (Waning phase of moon) is from October 1 to October 15, 2012.

Ekadasi Fasting Dates in Bhadrapada Masam are:
Parivartini Ekadasi – September 26
Indira Ekadasi – October 11

Purnima in Telugu Bhadrapada Masam
Bhadrapada Purnima or Full moon day is on September 30, 2012. The Purnima begins at 7:34 AM on September 29 and ends at 7:56 AM on September 30. Mahalya Shradh period begins on the day. The day is also observed as Proshtapadi Shraddha.

Amavasi in Telugu Bhadrapada Masam
Bhadrapad Amavasya or No moon day is on October 15. The Amavasi begins at 7:46 PM on October 14 and ends at 6:01 PM on October 15. This is the Mahalaya Amavasi also known as Sarva Pitru Amavasi.

Please note that Bhadrapad month 2011 in traditional Hindu calendar followed in North India is from August 2 to September 30. There was an Adhika Masa in 2012

Bhadrapada Masa in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka is similar to the Telugu Calendar.
