Mohini Ekadasi is observed during the waxing phase of moon or Shukla Paksha in Vaishakh month. Mohini Ekadasi 2014 date is May 10. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Ekadasi fasting is observed on the 11th day of a lunar fortnight. Observing Mohini Ekadashi helps in making life happy and it also helps in redemption of sins.
The significance of Mohini Ekadasi is mentioned in the Surya Purana in a conversation between Yudhishtira and Lord Krishna.
It is said that Lord Vashishta advised Bhagvan Rama to observe Mohini Ekadashi to get over the guilt and distress caused from the separation from Mata Sita.
All the regular fasting rules associated with Ekadasi are followed during Mohini Ekadasi. Those observing partial fast avoid rice and food made of grains.
