Adi Shankara Jayanti is the birth anniversary of the Adi Shankaracharya and it falls on the 5th day during waxing of moon in the month of Vaisakh (May-June). In 2012, the date of Adi Shankara Jayanti is April 26. Among scholars and historians there is a difference of opinion regarding the period of Adi Shankara, but his birthday is celebrated annually on the same day – on the 5th day of the Shukla Paksha of Vaisakha.
