Eklingji Patotsav at Eklingji Temple in Rajasthan

Eklingji Patotsav is an important ceremony held in Chaitra month as per traditional north Indian calendar at famous Eklingji Temple in Udaipur Rajasthan. Dedicated to Lord Eklingji Temple, is famous for a 50-feet Shivling with faces of Lord Shiva carved on four directions. Eklingji Patotsav in 2024 is on April 17.

In Patotsav, the head of the presiding deity is covered with a strip of garment in patotsav.

The unique black marble Shivling has four faces – east face is of Surya or Sun God; west face is of Brahma, north face if of Vishnu and south face is of Shiva as Rudra. The Shiva Linga is garlanded by a silver snake.

Eklingji Temple is also famous for its architecture style and is located on the national highway 8, about 22 km north of Udaipur.
