Goddess Bhavani is an incarnation of Goddess Shakti. A ritual known as Bhavani Utpatti is observed during the Chaitra Navratri. Bhavani Utpatti 2010 date is March 23. Goddess Bhavani, popularly referred as Maa Bhavani, is a powerful form of Goddess Durga. She is also the patron deity of many families.
The popular belief associated with Goddess Bhavani indicates that she made her appearance on the Ashtami (eighth day) during the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of moon) of Chaitra month. This coincides with the Chaitra Navratri and the Basanti Puja.
Special pujas and rituals are held on the day in sacred spots associated with Maa Bhavani. Some people also observe a fast on the day.
