Goddess Bhavani, popularly referred as Maa Bhavani, is a powerful form of Goddess Durga. She is also the patron deity of many families.
The popular belief associated with Goddess Bhavani indicates that she made her appearance on the Ashtami (eighth day) during the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of moon) of Chaitra month. This coincides with the Chaitra Navratri and the Basanti Puja.
