Rang Panchami Holi festival is observed on the fifth day (Panchami) during the waning phase of moon in Phalgun month (February – March). Rang Panchami 2014 date is March 21. The corresponding period in North Indian calendar is the fifth day during Chaitra Krishna paksha.
The festival is a continuation of the Holi festival and is observed mainly in rural areas in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and some parts of
North India. The festival is observed five days after Holi Dhuleti.
Rang Panchami is essentially a rural festival. Special significance is given to the festival by the farming community.
