The Surya Grahan on January 15, 2010 is an Annular Solar Eclipse in South India. The partial solar eclipse time at Haridwar is from 11:58:25 to 15:11:53 hrs. Maximum eclipse will be at 13:42:01 hrs.

It is widely believed in Hinduism that the unique alignment of sun, moon and earth creates special healing power in the waters of Ganga. Those taking bath during the specific period of the Surya Grahan will be able to wash away the sins and this helps in attaining moksha.
