The fourth day falling during the waxing phase of moon or Shukla Paksha is observed as Vinayak Chaturthi or Ganesh Chaturti by Lord Ganesha devotees. In January 2010, there is an Angarak Vinayak Chaturthi on January 19. A Ganesh Chaturthi becomes Angarak Vinayaka Chaturthi when it falls on Tuesday. Angarak, or Angaraka, means fire and the name because Tuesday or Mangalwar is governed by Hindu God Mangal.
In 2010, the day is of great significance as the day is observed as Ganesh Jayanti in
Ganesh is worshipped on the day and is prayed for peace and prosperity. He is also worshipped to remove any trouble created by Mangal Grah on one’s horoscope.
