Ulto Rath during Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra

Ulto Rath is the return journey of the Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra chariots from the GundichaTemple. In the Puri Rath Yatra, the three chariots are pulled to the GundichaTemple and the deities stays there in the Garden House or ‘Adapa Mandapa’ for eight days. Ulto Rath is the return journey of the deities to the PuriJagannathTemple. In 2016, the date of Ulto Rath is July 14.

Ulto Rath is popularly known as Bahuda Jatra or Bahuda Yatra.

During the Bahuda Jatra, the chariots of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, Subhadra make a stop at the MausimaTemple. This temple is dedicated to the aunt of Lord Jagannath and three deities are offered ‘poda pitha’, a special sweet made of rice, coconut, lentils and jaggery.

Jaya Parvati Vrat is observed by married women in the Hindu month of Ashada or Ashara mainly in Gujarat.
