Hanumantha Vratha in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh

Hanumantha Vrata is observed in Karnataka and parts of Andhra Pradesh on the 13th day during the waxing phase of moon in Margashirsh month. Hanumantha Vrata 2014 date is on December 4, 2014. The Vrata is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and is believed to have been performed by Draupadi – the wife of the Pandavas.


Legend has it that Lord Brahma had given this boon to Vayu (wind god) that those who perform the Hanumantha Vrata will succeed in all their endeavors and will be blessed with peace and prosperity.

Pooja Vidhana – We have to chant “Om namO vaayu nandanaaya Om and do the avaahana of Sri Hanumanta Devaru.
We have to do the pooja of Hanuman and Sri Ramachandra with Shodachopachara, archane and naivedya, and vayana daana.

We have to wet vastra in Kumkuma water and place that vastra on Pampa kalasha. Then we have to do the pooja of Turmeric (arishina) for the doora with 13 granthees. Then Avahana, Shodashopachara pooja to be done.
