A Chandra Grahan, a partial lunar eclipse, will take place on June 26, 2010. According to NASA, the Chandra Grahan is a partial lunar eclipse and is visible mainly in the pacific and eastern parts of Australia and for a greater extent in the western parts of USA and Canada. The partial eclipse will happen at moon rise in India, Nepal, Singapore, Malaysia and other places in eastern parts of Asia. The Chandragrahan will be taking place in
Time in India - 3:46 PM to 6:30 PM (only slightly visible in northeastern part of India)
Please note that the grahan is not visible in Gulf, Europe and Africa.

Chandra Grahan and Hindus
Usually during a Chandra Grahan, a fast (Upvaas) is observed by certain communities in Hindu religion. The fast begins about 9 hours before the beginning of Chandra Grahan.
People also take a bath in cold water and chant mantras dedicated to Lord Vishnu or Shiva like the Ashtakshara Mantra or Mrityunjaya Mantra. This is done whenever Surya and Chandra are under the influence of Rahu. Pregnant women chant the Santana Gopala Mantra.
Note: There is no need to follow any rituals for this grahan as it is not visible in India. Panchangs and Calendars have ignored this grahan mostly.

What I want to add is, the grahana acharane (taking bath, chanting etc) is applicalbe to those parts of the world, wwhere it is visible only. if the grahan is not visible in your region, pl. go-ahead with your normal life

According to traditional way , when Devas churned the ocean Asuras tried to get nectar, but this was found out by Sun and Moon for which they were divided as Rahu and Kethu. At that time since they worshiped for their sins they were pardoned and one was with head and the other tail. Please be aware that Rahu and Kethu are not true planets they are Shadow planets. The reason why we have to take bath at that time is reflected light i.e Scattered light has wavelength inverse of lamda power four, Rayeligh Scattering. The intensity is high to humans. So we do not eat as nutritive material gets eliminated of high intensity and take bath cook fresh and eat. Hey don't worry when the Grahan is not visible you don't need to take precautions. In India, when the Grahan is not visible the panchangs and temples ignore it. Same rule is applicable in all places where it is not visible.

Namaste Anonymous...There is no lunar eclipse on January 26, 2010. It was an error made. Actual date of next eclipse is June 26, 2010. The confusion arose due to a spelling error in Jan and Jun.

@GUS the June 26, 2010 eclipse is visible for a short period from 05:17 (Colombia Time). This lunar eclipse can be ignored as it takes place early morning and is parital. You don't need to worry.

The solar eclipse on July 11, 2010 is not visible in Auckland and in other places in New Zealand.
