Sabarimala Pilgrimage 2009-2010 – Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple Yatra Dates



The Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple in Kerala will open for the Mandala Pooja season on November 15, 2009. The two month pilgrim season attracts millions of devotees to this hill shrine dedicated to Sastha. The Temple will remain open from November 15, 2009 to December 26, 2009 and from December 30 to January 14, 2010. The annual pilgrimage begins in November and ends in mid January with the Makaravilakku.

Mandala Pooja Mahotsavam Begins on November 15, 2009 at 1730 hrs

Mandala Masam or Mandala Kalam begins on November 16, 2009

Mandala Pooja is on December 26, 2009.

Temple closes after Mandala Pooja on December 26, 2009 at 2230 hrs.

The shrine then closes for a brief period and reopens for Makaravilakku festival.

Temple re-opens for Makara Vilakku Session on December 30, 2009 at 1730 hrs.

Makaravilakku is on January 14, 2010. The famous Makarajyothi sighting also will take place on this day.

Temple closes on January 20, 2010 at 2200 hrs.
