Naga Chaturthi in Kartik Month



Naga Chaturthi is an auspicious day dedicated to Nagas or Snakes and is observed on the fourth day during the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of moon) in the Kartik month as per traditional calendars followed in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Naga Chaturthi 2014 date is October 27. This is the first day of the three day Nagula Chavithi festival mainly observed in Andhra Pradesh.

It must be noted that Naga Chaturthi is also observed before the Naga Panchami festival in Shravan month (July – August). This popularly known as Naga Chaturthi Upvaas.

People offer prayers to Nagas on the day for avoiding all forms of Naga Doshas.
