Govardhan Puja 2015 date - Puja After Diwali Day



Govardhan Puja is dedicated to the Govardan Mountain near Mathura, which was lifted by Lord Krishna to save the people of Braj from heavy rains and flood created by Lord Indra. Govardhan Puja 2015 date is November 12. Apart from worship of Lord Krishna and Govardhan Mountain, people perform Govardhan Parikrama, circumambulating the hill. It is an important event on the day.

The festival of Govardhan Puja is also known as Annakut, as the food offered by devotees is so much that it takes the form of a mountain.

Vikram Samvat 2072 or Kartik Shukladi or Gujarati New Year is also observed on the day.

The most important Govardhan Puja takes place in Mathura. Thousands of devotees perform Govardhan Parikrama on the day.
