Garuda Dwadasi is observed during the waxing phase of moon (Shukla Paksha) in Kartik month in Orissa. Garuda Dwadasi 2011 date is November 7 and is of significance at the Puri Jagannath Temple . The day is dedicated to Garuda – the Vahana of Lord Vishnu. It is observed the day after the Bada Ekadasi and along with Tulsi Puja.
Garuda Dwadasi is an important ritual in Puri Jagannath Temple . Scores of devotees participate in the ritual. It is also the second day of the Panchuka rituals part of Kartik Brata observed in Puri.
