Fast Darshan at Tirupati Balaji Temple – New 300 Rupees Quick or Seegra Darshan Ticket for Impatient Devotees

Tirumala Tirupati Balaji Temple has launched a fast darshan facility at the temple known as Seegra Darshan for those who have money and do not have the patience to stand in the long queue. The cost of the new quick darshan ticket is 300 rupees and this will provide speedy access to offer worship of Lord Venkateswara. The centuries old free darshan facility still continues but the wait is long.

The popular Rs 50 'darshan' facility ticket would also continue. But issuance of Archana Ananthara Darshan (AAD) tickets and Cellar Darshan tickets has been stopped from October 21, 2009.

Under the new system, devotees buying Rs 300 ticket will be allowed to enter the shrine through a separate queue.

It is said that the quick 'darshan' system has been introduced to put a stop to cases of recommendations from influential quarters, to provide speedy access for viewing the deity and also check the middlemen menace.

I personally feel all such tickets should be stopped and there should only be one queue – the traditional darshan queue where the poor, the rich, the powerful wait to get a glimpse of Lord Venkateswara.

Such paid darshan hurts millions of poor Hindu devotees who barely manage the travel expenses needed to reach the abode of Balaji. The poor devotees are at the shrine to seek the blessings of Lord Venkateswara to have a better life. But even at the shrine money rules and poor devotees are pushed back.

It is said in the Srimad Bhagavad Purana that Lord only enjoyed three meals on earth – Firstly Lord was pleased with the sweat-drenched beaten rice (Poha or Aval) of the poor Kuchela, which even contained mud. HE was then satisfied with the remnants of food that Draupadi was forced to give in a precarious situation in the Mahabharat. HE was satisfied with the gruel that Vidura gave in his humble abode when he was the messenger before the Mahabharat battle.

When will people realize that Lord Balaji is not influenced by power and money but by pure devotion? Some devotees might be impatient but the Lord is never impatient He patiently waits for his poor devotee who has to pass through several man-made barriers.

Excellent commentary. Spiritual wisdom and grace should never come with a price tag.

Thanks.

It is sad that it is money which ultimately matters, even in temples:(

Having a ticket in any form for any temple is absurd and should be stopped. Such practices at large temples also encourage even smaller temples to go for similar practices and these are becoming like running business organisations.

well said. But think of people who r aged and having small kids or babies. We know about indian people, they know that God is not going to run away any where, even then he push others and move forward. In this sutivation, one common queue method is obvious harmfull for many sick people and people with babies in hand.
But we should appreciate people for removing the WIP quota etc. and making only one 300rs.

And by the way who are we to decide whether 300rs is necessary to see Balaji. HE knows it better whom to see first and whom next. Whom to shed sweat to see and whom not to. Do you people think, that Balaji does not know about this? think people think. What ever is happening, happening for God. And Every thing has an end, even for this 300rs has an end. One day all the people will become and sensable, then this money system will go away.

RS. 300 /- COLLECTED SHOULD BE SPENT ONLY AMONG POOR PEOPLE / DEVOTEES IN THE COMMON QUE WAITING FOR HOURS. IT CAN BE SPENT BY OFFERING SOME FOOD ARTICLE OTHER THAN PRASAD LADUS TO ALL THESE POOR PEOPLE COMING OUT AFTER DARSHAN. NO SUCH FOOD PACKET TO SEEGRA DARSHAN DEVOTEES.

Read various comments on ticket to take darshan of Balaji. Most of comments says that ticket system should be stopped. Are these people not spending for their luxury? Are they not going to Multiplex? Little money for buying ticket to see Balaji is more? They fail to understand that money is required to run such a huge organisation. From where they should bring money for salaries, maintenances, water, ameniteis etc? I feel ticket system is must for raising funds.

Those objecting for implimenting ticket for darshan of Balaj - have you ever visited Tirumala ? Have you seen the amenities and facilities being provided there? How these things are provided ? From where money is coming ? are you not spending for cinema, multi-plex, petrol, hotel ? Cant you pay little to such a huge oragnisation for providing these facilities at Tirumala for the pilgrims?

Seeghra Darshan (Quick Darshan) takes 8 (eight) hours to see Lord Venkateswar at Tirumala so for my experience on Dt.08.09.2010 is concerned.
I think Lord Venkateswar at Tirumala is only for the rich people not for the poor one.
Poor people can not effort such huge money at every stage at Tirupati and Tirumala to see god. Nothing is free there, one has to pay money at foot wear and mobile counter though it is written Free of cost.
God will be more happy if one can pray him at home. God is for all and all are equal before him. The T.T.D. making difference between poor and rich by different queues.

All VIP Darshans must be stoped, no VIP's infront of the GOD. There is nothing wrong with priced tickets. Some people have time they can afford and some people can afford money over the time. It is up to the individuals what they wants to afford. Poor man can afford time and receive the good felicities and free food from the money donated by rich.

Eight hours is also very long for aged people. So for a family with at least one senior(65+) member should be allowed to get darshan within half an hour and more costly tickets should be sold if necessary.

are multiple darshans allowed each day?? or atleast once per day if one is there for 3-4 days??

Heard separate queue exists for senior citizens and parents with infants?? What is the age limit for senior citizens??
