There is a transition of Navagraha Shani in 2009. In Hindu astrology, Shani Transition takes place when Lord Sani, or Saneeswara, moves from one Zodiac sign to another Zodiac sign in once in two-and-a-half years. There is popular belief among those people who believe in astrology and horoscope that a malefic Saturn in one’s horoscope will cause miseries and hardships. Majority of the astrologers have given the date of September 9, 2009 for Shani transition.
Another calendar indicates that Shani Transition 2009 will take place on September 26, 2009 at 15:27 hrs (03:27 AM) as per Indian Standard Time.
Please note that the September 26 date is associated with the Shani Temple in Thirunallur.
In the 2009 transition, Lord Shani will travel from Simha Rashi (Leo Zodiac) to Kanniya Rashi (Virgo Zodiac). Shani Navagraha will stay in Kanniya Rashi for the next 2.5 years (two-and-a-half years).
People perform special pujas and rituals to avoid the malefic influence of Saturn.

The date of September 26 is mostly associated with South India. September 9 is given by North Indian astrologers.
