GSB Seva Sadan Mandal is an organization founded by the Gowd Saraswat Brahmin community from Karnataka and the G S B Ganapati is popularly known as Golden Ganesha of Mumbai Ganesh Chaturthi Puja. G S B Ganapati 2011 is the 57th year of Ganeshotsava celebrations of the GSB Seva Mandal at King Circle
GSB Seva Mandal Ganesha is adorned with more than 60 kgs of gold and 250 kgs of silver and is undoubtedly the costliest Ganesha in Mumbai. It is also among the tallest Ganapati idols in Mumbai.
The crown of the Matunga Ganesha is made out of 22 kilograms of gold. Gold adorns the ears, feet, hands and trunk of the idol. Apart from this there are gold flowers, embroidery, necklace, a cobra and throne with lions on either side.
"The Ganpati adorns 60-65 kgs of gold, 250 kgs of silver which amounts to not less than 10 crores of rupees (100 million rupees). All this has been made possible by the devotees whose prayers and wishes have been answered," said Satish Nayak, Trustee, Gowd Saraswat Brahmin (GSB), Seva Mandal, Wadala, Mumbai.

I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY ALL THE MONEY IS SPEND ON DECORATING THE IDOL WITH GOLD, DIAMONDS ETC RATHER THAN SPENDING ON WELFARE OF THE SOCIETY. HINDUS DONATE LIBERALLY IN THE NAME OF GOD AND NOT ON CHARITY DIRECTLY. ALL THE TEMPLES WHICH COLLECT MILLIONS DAILY FROM DEVOTEES, UNFORTUNATELY SPEND THE SAME IN DECORATING THE IDOLS AND TEMPLE AND NOT ON MANKIND.OTHER RELIGIONS COLLECT AND SPEND ON WELFARE ACTIVITIES LIKE EDUCATION, MEDICAL, ANATH ASHRAMS, OLD AGE HOMES ETC... HOPE WISDOM PREVAILS ONE DAY.

WHY THE GOD IS NOT PUNISHING THESE HOUDS. THEY OWN CRORES OF RUPEES. FROM WHERE THE MONEY HAS COME. EVEN STREET BEGGERS ARE NOT POOR. THE HOLD BANK ACCOUNTS.

This comment is to highlight our experience at the Mandal this year.I had booked ratri pooja assuming I will get proper prasad in front of god. When I visted, i was surprised see the response, no one to guide us how to approach the line.After standing in queue for more than an hr, we were handed a bag of prasad by a volunteer and not by the pandit.
I think they should undestand people s emotions and concentrate on these issues rather than creating publicity.
