Shravan Mahina 2010 – Sawan Month 2010 in Traditional North Indian Calendar

Shravan Mahina, or Sawan Month, is one of the holiest Hindu months and is dedicated to Lord Shiva in North India. Shravan month is filled with auspicious days and numerous rituals are observed in the month. The Shravan Month 2010 in traditional Hindu calendar followed in North India begins on July 27 and ending date is August 24. Mondays in Shravan month which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and many people observe the famous Shravan Somvar Vrat.

It must be noted that in calendars followed in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra Shrawan month begins on August 10, 2010 and ends on September 8, 2010.

  • Shravan Krishna Paksha begins on July 27, 2010 in Traditional North Indian Calendar and ends on August 10, 2010.
  • Shravan Shukla Paksha begins on August 11 and ends on August 24, 2011.

Shravan Somwar – Monday Fasting dedicated to Lord Shiva

Hariyali Amavasi – August 10

Hariyali Teej – August 12

Nag Panchami – August 14

Tulsi Das Jayanti – August 16

Raksha Bandan and Purnima – August 24.

Shravan month is considered highly auspicious and is referred as one of the holiest months in Traditional Hindi Calendar. Shravan Month is also the first month in the Chatur Maas - four holy months.

In 2009, the Shraddh Pitru Paksh begins on September 4 and ends with Mahalaya Pitru Paksha on September 18.
