Shravan Mahina 2009 – Sawan Month in Traditional North Indian Calendar

Shravan Mahina, or Sawan Month, is one of the holiest Hindu months and is dedicated to Lord Shiva in North India. Shravan month is filled with auspicious days and numerous rituals are observed in the month. The Shravan Month 2009 in traditional Hindu calendar followed in North India begins on July 8 and ending date is August 6. Mondays in Shravan month which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and many people observe the famous Shravan Somvar Vrat.

It must be noted that in calendars followed in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra Shrawan month begins on July 22, 2009 and ends on August 20, 2009.

  • Shravan Krishna Paksha begins on July 8, 2009 in Traditional North Indian Calendar and ends on July 22, 2009.
  • Shravan Shukla Paksha begins on July 22 and ends on August 6, 2009.

Hariyali Amavasi – July 22

Surya Grahan – July 22

Hariyali Teej – July 24

Nag Panchami – July 26

Tulsi Das Jayanti – July 28

Raksha Bandan – August 5.

Shravan month is considered highly auspicious and is referred as one of the holiest months in Traditional Hindi Calendar. Shravan Month is also the first month in the Chatur Maas - four holy months.

In 2009, the Shraddh Pitru Paksh begins on September 4 and ends with Mahalaya Pitru Paksha on September 18.
