Hindu Leaders in Britain Pledge to Help in Environmental Conservation

Hindu Leaders in United Kingdom as part of an international initiative led by the Alliance of Religions and Conservation (ARC) and the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies (OCHS) have pledged to help in climate protection and environmental conservation.

Times of India Reports

The religious leaders have decided to set a benchmark for using a range of products and services. The measures include creating awareness through endorsement of traditional food and promotion of sustainable lifestyle.

These plans will be developed and implemented over the next nine years - a timeframe chosen to encourage long-term planning.

Ranchor Prime, researcher on Hindu environmental issues said: "Food has always been at the heart of the Hindu way of life. Now with food, and especially the environmental cost of meat, right at the top of the global climate change agenda, Hindus feel they have something to say. One of their key concerns is to change public perceptions of the cow as simply a source of food."

Wish this programme is implemented across the globe in each and every country. One must realuze the fact that the Hindu way of life is closest to the Nature at large. Everything that we do and everything that we believe in has got some relation to the nature. Be it feeding cows or orther animals or simply by offering prayers to the trees. This goes to show how we are a part of nature and not different from it. We are nothing but nature and we must'nt forget that ever. So every move that we take should be towards preserving nature.
