The annual Amarnath Yatra is one of the most famous annual religious pilgrimage of Hindus, wherein thousands of devotees travel to have darshan of Holy Shivling at Shree Amarnathji cave in south Kashmir Himalayas in India. Amarnath Yatra 2013 is expected to start from June 28, 2013. The Amarnath Yatra of 2013 concludes on August 21, 2013 on Raksha Bandhan day.
The cave shrine is noted for the formation of a natural Shiva Lingam. The natural ‘ice lingam’ is formed by the ice droplets from the rooftop of the vast cave.
The registration of yatris (pilgrims), on both Pahalgam and Baltal routes, will be through 110 designated branches of Jammu and Kashmir Bank all over India and online.
This year the cave shrine can be accessed from Baltal and the traditional Pahalgam route. The Baltal route is shorter but the climb is steep. The traditional Pahalgam route passes through Sheeshnag and Panchtarni – both are important mythological places.
The Yatra concludes on August 20th – the Shravan Purnima day, which is also the Raksha Bandhan day.
There are helicopter services from Baltal and Srinagar
The original dates sanctioned by the Holy scriptures for the Yatra is from the Guru Purnima day – the day when the Charri Mubarak Yatra to the Amarnath Cave Shrine begins. But to accommodate the ever growing number of pilgrims, the yatra begins a month early.

Yes you will need registration it is through the Jammu and Kashmir bank and registration will begin from next week.

Till now there is no news of online registration in Amarnath yatra 2010. The registration through branches of Jammu and kashmir bank started on June 5, 2010.

The online registration is closed now. You can go to the nearest branch of Jammu and Kashmir you don't need an account for it.

I have a niece who is just 3 yr old,is it safe to take her to Amarnath yatra, which is not so easy for the adults also.
The registration 2011 online for Amarnath Yatra is not yet announced. If it is there then it will in all probability through Jammu and Kashmir Bank.
It would not be wise to take a 3-year-old for such an arduous journey. Security is also a concern.

2011 online registration if available will be there in May 2011 or june 2011. Oh yes the news will be made available in all leading papers.

First try to get a registration on the date of your cousin. And cancel your original.

Another option is to you go with your cousin and explain to people their about your problem. The reservation is mainly to keep the crowd less.
