Ugadi 2009 celebrations at Tirumala Tirupati Balaji Temple



Ugadhi, or Ugadi, the Telugu and Kannada New Year, is an important event at the Tirumala Tirupati Venkateswara Temple. Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam, Ugadi Asthanam, Panchanga Sravanam are some of the important rituals associated with Ugadi at Tirumala Temple. The Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam will be celebrated on March 24, 2009 and Ugadi Asthanam on March 27, 2009 in Sri Vari Temple, Tirumala. In 2009, Ugadi day is March 27.

In a press release Tirumala Tirupati Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams announced that in view of Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam on March 24, 2009, Arjitha Seva such as Astdala Pada Padmaradhana Seva will be performed as Ekantham. Sarvadarshanam will commence from 13:00 hrs on the same day.

In view of Ugadhi Asthanam on March 27, Arjitha seva such as Archana, Thomala Nijapada Seva Kalyanotsavam, Unjala Seva, Brahmotsavam, Vasanthotsavam are cancelled. Sahastra Deeppalankara Seva will be performed as it is. Sarvadarshanam starts by 9AM on same day.

Similarly Nityotsavams will be conducted in Srivari Temple from March 27 to May 5.

On Ugadhi day, special rituals such as Visesha Samarpana to Sri Malayappa Swamy Varu and His conserts and Senadhipathi by 0700hrs at Bangaru Vakilli. Panchanga Sravanam and Asthanam will be conducted from 0700hrs to 0900hrs.
