The popular Makar Sankranti festival in India is known as Sankrant in Uttar Pradesh and several parts of North India . Sankrant is also known as Kicheri. In 2013, the date of Sankrant is January 14. The most important ritual on this day is taking bath at Sangam in Prayag (Allahabad ). The day is an important bathing day during Magh Snan.
