In the Devi Mahatmya, it is said that Goddess Durga appeared as Shakambari after a dry period of hundred years. She brought forth from her body fruits, flowers, vegetables and herbs to suffice the hunger of the people.
Major Temples dedicated to Goddess Shakambhari are located in Badami and Bangalore Karnataka, Nagewadi and Kumbhoj in Maharashtra , Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. In Karnataka, she is known as Goddess Banashankari and Banada Ashtami is a major event during Shakambari Mata Navratra.

In Nepal Adhikari Kshatris from Bhardwaj Clan (GOTRA)worship Shakambhari Goddess as their deity (KULDEVI). So I am very egger to know more about the procedure of worship as worshiped in and around the globe from time immemorial. If anyone have idea about it,please inform us as soon as possible. Because we have firm believe upon her mercy and here in Nepal also we can arrange her Navaratra Mela in the days to come.
