Frequently asked question :

Why we celebrate these festival at all ?
every day or every week there is some festival for some pretext or another.

This question was asked by my children some time ago.

And even now it comes to my mind sometime.

Answer :

I am not evolved or educated enough to exactly and honestly answer this question. But I tried my best to do it in following way : (if some of my friends, can help me , it would be a great pleasure though I may not personally acknowledge these helping gestures.) :

I replied them:

- festival or celebration is not that bad at all.
-
- After all , we just eat, drink , wear good clothes, and are together.
-
But I think , what was bothering them was our saying that you must take a necessary bath on that day, and to perform a little bit of prayers done on that day. That was boring to them, because, I never explained them , the importance of prayer to them.

To be honest, even I myself was not fully convinced about the little bit prayer part done on that day, but was still doing it as a part of a traditional practice.

I do not know , how much I am convinced now about the prayer portion of this, but has learned that , the prayer is the only way, I can find out some way to save myself from the hardships of this life, in some way or another.

It is good that my children , do not come across to any of such hardships, except that sometimes , there all wishes are not fulfilled for some reasons.

(but in the back of my mind, I had that , let them learn about prayers. They may need some prayers at some part of their life, and as a parent , it is my duty to equip them with that instruments , that they may need them sometime)

So I said to them, that take it like that, we celebrate them like we celebrate your birthday, and our anniversary , marriage or some other party.

But I would make it easy for you, bathing early not necessary, no fasting, no lengthy prayers. And only fire – crackers, and holi colours playing for example.

But what in mind is that, by these frequent festivities, our for fathers, wanted to join us to that power, which we call as GOD.

Any how, since man is a social animal, we celebrate, and we will be celebrating without reasoning, because it is Happy Diwali, once more.

How is that !

Hi Abhilash,

Great Work.

Kindly include Vishkarma Day also in your next list. This year, or every year is the next day after dewali that is Vishkarma Day.

Kindly also activate below post comment form. Just a suggestion. I find that you are quite in expert in playing with tags.

Good site, BUT BAD ADVERTISEMENTS IN BE NAUGHTY AND BAD GAMES links in it. we are Telugu people, try to remove this ads pleaseeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????

Kishore said...

Advertisements is what keeps most blogs and website running. Without finance, how can anyone maintain a blog regularly. I have personally seen many Hindu websites shutting down due to lack of money. So wht little the ads provide is what that makes relgious websties stick.

Hi,
Why is Ram Navami falling on the 10th day? Should you count Gudi Padwa as the first day?

Anonymous said...

which date does ram naumi starts and ends 2012

Lal said...

There are only 8 days during Chaitra navratri that is the reason why Ram Navami falls on the 10th day.

Ram Navami week begins on March 23, 2012 and ends on April 1, 2012
