To get a feel of the Durga Puja in Kolkata, the West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation (WBTDC) has come up with attractive package tours to Durga Puja Pandals in 2008 for both domestic and foreign tourists. This West Bengal government initiative includes a two nights/three days stay at a four star hotel for reveling in the Durga Puja celebrations in Kolkata, pre-puja trips, special Durga Puja trips to traditional Puja pandals outside Kolkata city and cruise rides on the river on the day of immersion of the Durga idols. In 2008, the Durga Puja celebrations begin on October 5 and ends on October 9.
“This time we have tried to design packages in such a way that there is something for everyone. It is a Government initiative, as many outsiders feel safe to book packages with the WBTDC,” said MD WBTDC, TVN Rao.(Indian Express)
The two nights/three days stay at a four star hotel package during the Durga Puja celebrations in Kolkata includes conducted tours around the city, Durga Puja Pandal visits and various other Puja attractions. Pre- Durga Puja tours on October 4 and 5 will include visits to Durga Puja Pandal and other Puja attractions plus a city tour. The cost is 600 per person in AC vehicle and 400 per person in non-AC vehicle.
