Indian Railway announces Special Trains for Onam 2008



Southern Railway of Indian Railways has announced special trains for Onam festival 2008. The advance railway reservation started on 24th August 2008. Onam is the harvest of Kerala and in 2008, Thiruonam is on September 12. Special trains are from Bangalore, Chennai, Mangalore to Trivandrum, Ernakulam and Mangalore.

Following are the special runs announced by Southern Railway for Onam:

Ernakulam - Bangalore – Ernakulam Onam Special Trains

Bangalore – Ernakulam (Train No 0642)September 9 and September 16 stops at Aluva, Thrissur, Ottapalam, Palakkad, Podanur, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Tirupattur, Bangarapet, Krishnarajapuram and Bangalore Cantonment. Will leave Bangalore at 1715 hrs and reach Ernakulam at 0430 hrs. The composition of the trains will be 1 AC 2 tier, 1 AC 3 tier, 8 Sleeper class, 2 General second class and 2 Luggage-cum-brake van coaches.

Ernakulam – Bangalore (Train No 0641) - September 8 and September 15. Will leave Ernakulam at 1700 hrs and reach Bangalore at 0420 hrs. Stops same as above.

Ernakulam – Bangalore (Train No 0638) will leave Ernakulam at 17.00 hrs on 11.09.2008 and arrive Bangalore at 04.20 hrs the next day. The trains will stop at Alwaye, Trichur, Ottapalam, Palghat, Podanur, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Tirupattur, Bangarapet, Krishnarajapuram and Bangalore Cantonment.

Bangalore - Ernakulam (Train No 0637) will leave Bangalore at 18.45 hrs on 12.09.2008 and arrive Ernakulam at 06.30 hrs the next day. Stops same as above.

Chennai Central – Mangalore – Chennai Central Onam Special Trains

Chennai Central – Mangalore (Train No 0601) will leave Chennai Central at 17.00 hrs on 09.09.2008 (Tuesday) and arrive Mangalore at 09.15 hrs the next day. The trains will stop at Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Podanur, Palghat, Shoranur, Kuttipuram, Tirur, Calicut, Quilandi, Badagara, Tellicherry, Cannanore, Payyanur, Charvathur, Kanhangad and Kasaragod. Train.No.0602 will stop at Perambur also. The composition of the trains will be 1 AC 2 tier, 14 Sleeper class, 5 General second class and 2 Luggage-cum-brake van coaches.

Mangalore – Chennai Central (Train No 0602) will leave Mangalore at 1600 hrs on 10.09.2009 (Wednesday) and arrive Chennai Central at 0830 hrs the next day. Stops same as above.

Chennai Central – Mangalore (Train No 0661) will leave Chennai Central at 22.20 hrs on 10.09.2008 (Wednesday) and arrive Mangalore at 15.45 hrs the next day. The trains will stop at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Podanur, Palghat, Shoranur, Kuttipuram, Tirur, Calicut, Quilandi, Badagara, Tellicherry, Cannanore, Payyanur, Charvathur, Kanhangad and Kasaragod. Train.No.0662 will stop at Perambur also.

Mangalore – Chennai Central (Train No 0662) will leave Mangalore at 1900 hrs on 11.09.2009 (Thursday) and arrive Chennai Central at 1205 hrs the next day. Stops same as above.

Chennai Central – Trivandrum – Chennai Central Special Trains for Onam

Chennai Central – Trivandrum Special (Train No 0635) will leave Chennai Central at 15.15 hrs on 10.09.2008 (Wednesday) and 12.09.2008 (Friday) and arrive Trivandrum at 07.45 hrs the next day. The trains will stop at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Podanur, Palghat, Trichur, Alwaye, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Chenganacherry, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, Mavelikara, Kayankulam, Quilon and Varkala. Train.No.0636 will stop at Perambur also. The composition of the trains will be 1 AC 2 tier, 1 AC 3 tier, 0 Sleeper class, 4 General second class and 2 Luggage-cum-brake van coaches.

Trivandrum – Chennai Central Special (Train No 0636) will leave Trivandrum at 1200 hrs on 11.09.2008 (Thursday) and 13.09.2008 (Saturday) and arrive Chennai Central at 0455 hrs. the next day.

Chennai Central – Trivandrum Special (Train No 0657) will leave Chennai Central at 17.00 hrs on 14.09.2008 (Sunday) and arrive Trivandrum at 0930 hrs the next day. The trains will stop at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Podanur, Palghat, Trichur, Alwaye, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Chenganacherry, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, Mavelikara, Kayankulam, Quilon and Varkala. Train.No.0658 will stop at Perambur also.

Trivandrum - Chennai Central Special (Train No 0658) will leave Trivandrum at 1200 hrs on 15.09.2008 (Monday) and arrive Chennai Central at 0455hrs the next day.

Chennai Egmore - Trivandrum - Chennai Egmore Onam Special Trains

Chennai Egmore - Trivandrum Special (Train No 0659) will leave Chennai Egmore at 1500 hrs on 11.09.2008 (Thursday) and arrive Trivandrum at 0745 hrs the next day. The trains will stop at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Podanur, Palghat, Trichur, Alwaye, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Chenganacherry, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, Mavelikara, Kayankulam, Quilon and Varkala. Train.No.0660 will stop at Perambur also. The composition of the trains will be 1 AC 2 tier, 2 AC 3 tier, 10 Sleeper class, 4 General second class and 2 Luggage-cum-brake van coaches.

Trivandrum - Chennai Egmore (Train No 0660) will leave Trivandrum at 1200 hrs on 12.09.2008 (Friday) and arrive Chennai Egmore at 0455 hrs the next day.

Chennai Egmore - Trivandrum (Train No 0659) will leave Chennai Egmore at 1500 hrs on 13.09.2008 (Saturday) and arrive Trivandrum at 0745 hrs the next day. The trains will stop at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Podanur, Palghat, Trichur, Alwaye, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Chenganacherry, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, Mavelikara, Kayankulam, Quilon and Varkala. Train No 0660 will stop at Perambur also.

Trivandrum – Chennai Egmore Special (Train No 0660) will leave Trivandrum at 12.00 hrs on 14.09.2008 (Sunday) and arrive Chennai Egmore at 04.55 hrs. the next day.

Mangalore – Trivandrum – Mangalore Onam Special Trains

Mangalore - Trivandrum Special (Train No 0696) will leave Mangalore at 1945 hrs on 09.09.2008 (Tuesday), 11.09.2008 (Thursday), 13.09.2008 (Saturday) and arrive Trivandrum at 0930 hrs the next day. The trains will stop at Kasargod, Kanhangad, Chervathur, Payyanur, Cannanore, Tellicherry, Badagara, Quilandi, Calicut, Tirur, Kuttipuram, Shoranur, Trichur, Alwaye, Ernakulam, Alleppey, Kayankulam, Quilon and Varkala. The composition of the trains will be 1 AC 2 tier, 1 AC 3 tier, 10 Sleeper class, 4 General second class and 2 Luggage-cum-brake van coaches.

Trivandrum – Mangalore (Train No 0695) will leave Trivandrum at 2000 hrs on 10.09.2008 (Wednesday), 12.09.2008 (Friday), 14.09.2008 (Sunday) and arrive Mangalore at 1015 hrs the next day.
