Krishna Paksha Chaturdashi of each month is observed by Shiva devotees as Shivaratri. This falls a day or two before Amavasi or new moon day. In 2017, the date of Shivratri in Shravan month is July 22 as per traditional Hindi Calendar followed in North India.
