Shravan month, or Shravana Mas, is one of the holiest Hindu months. This Hindi month is filled with various festivals and auspicious days. The most famous is the Mondays in Shravan month which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and many people observe the famous Somvar Vrat. The Shravan Month in traditional Hindu calendar followed in North India in 2010 begins on July 27 and ends on August 24.
In Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka calendars Shrawan month begins on August 10 and ends on September 8.
Legend has it that the Samudra Manthan(Churning of Ocean) took place in this month and Lord Shiva drank the poison HalaHala to save the world and as a result of it the throat of Shiva became blue in color and he came to be known by the name of Neelakanth.
Shravan month is considered highly auspcious and is referred as one of the holiest months in Hindi Calendar. Shravan Month is also the first month in the Chatur Mas - four holy months.
Shravan Krishna Paksha for Hindu Hindi Calendar 2067 begins on July 27 and ends on August 10. Shravan Shukla Paksha begins on August 11 and ends on August 24.
As per the traditional Hindi calendars followed in Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh,
Shravan Shukla Paksha as per calendars followed in Gujarat and Maharashtra begins on August 11 and ends on August 24. Shravan Krishna Paksha is from August 25 to September 8.
In Shravan Month, Mondays are dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Thank you for the information. Does anyone know any details about the kavar mela in Uttarakhand during Shravan? How do I go about joining it this year? (This is the mela where people take water from the Gangotri glacier and bring it down to a Shiv temple in Mukteshwar).

These Kavar, as they are called, collect vessels of Gangajal and carry them to a Shiv temple at Neelkanth or Garh Mukteshwar, over a hundred kilometers downstream or to Shiva temple of they’re faith. What do you mean by saying Shravan is a "Hindi" month? There are only "sanskrit" months. IF you meant to say "Hindu" month, please correct that glaring typo!
