The chariot of Balabhadra or Balrama, the brother of Lord Jagannath, in Puri Rath Yatra is identified by the red and blue topped canopy. The chariot is known as Taladhwaya and it has 14 wheels. In size, it is next to the chariot of Jagannath.
The guardian deity of the chariot of Balabhadra is Basudev and the charioteer is known as Matali.
The flag that is hoisted on the chariot is known as Urnani and the rope used to pull is called Basuki.
The chariot is also occupied by nine other deities – Gadantaakari, Harihar, Traimbaka, Vasudeva, Aghora, Pralambari, Natamvara, Tripurasiva and Mritunjaya.
