Navratri 2008

This post is to primarily indicate the dates or period of Navratri or Navaratri in 2008. This Navarathri is also known as Sharad Navratra.

September 30th – Navratri, Festival of Nine Nights begin.

October 5th – Durga Puja Begins - Durga Sashti puja.

October 6th, 2008 – Maha Saptami Puja/ Saraswati Avahan Puja in some parts in North India

October 7th – Durga Ashtami Puja.

October 8th, 2008 – Navratri Ends. Mahanavami Puja/ Saraswathi Puja and Ayudha Pooja in South India

October 9th – Vijaya Dashami and Dusshera

Please note that the dates are based on Indian Standard Time. Some calendars are indicating that Navratri festival in United States and Canada begins on September 29. The rest of the dates are indicated as same as in India.

Are these Navraatri pooja dates applicable for universal use or different countries have different dates? For USA ?

can shiftng of residence be done during navratri days, ie on the 2nd or 3rd of october.

If you’re doing nine days of Navratri Puja with all rituals, Shifting the house will be inconvenient. But if you are not doing the puja then there is no problem. Such matters should be left to your convenience. There is nothing wrong in shifting if you feel it is necessary. Rituals and pujas are meant for concentration and to know Brahman. You can always be flexible.
