Badrinath Temple or Badarinath Dham is one of the most sacred temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is located in the lofty Himalayan heights in the Garhwal Hill tracks in Uttarakhand at an altitude of 10,248 feet above sea level. In 2008, The Kapat of Shri Badrinath Temple will open on May 9 at 4:00 AM.
The image of Lord Vishnu in Badrinath Temple is carved out of Saligramam. Lord Vishnu is worshipped here as Badari Narayan and Badari Vishal.
The idol of Badarinarayan is seen under the Badari tree and is flanked by Kuber (God of wealth) and Garuda, Narad, Narayan and Nar. There is also a shrine dedicated to Maha Lakshmi and Adi Shankara.
The ideal time to visit the Badrinath Temple is during the Char Dham Yatra from May to October. It is wise to avoid the monsoon season due to the constant threat of landslides.
In 2008, the Badrinath Temple will close ten days after Diwali (November 6).
The shrine only remains open for six months in a year.

Finally the doors closed yesterday with the usual rituals. Pandit Badri Prasad Nambudari performed all the rituals.
