I was going to look at the site but I couldn't access it, presumably they are fixing the problem. I run linux and occasionally study spyware in my spare time. No chance of it infecting me. I wanted to look thru the code and see what was going on but I couldn't. Any I seriously doubt if google would misrepresent the case.
Anyway from googles security blog "To understand if malicious content on a web server is due to poor web server security, we analyzed the version numbers reported by web servers on which we found malicious pages. Specifically, we looked at the Apache and the PHP versions exported as part of a server's response. We found that over 38% of both Apache and PHP versions were outdated increasing the risk of remote content injection to these servers."
So most likely this site was basically spreading malware because it was infected by someone else. Anyway that's my guess.
Quote from Google: "Note that in some cases, third parties can add malicious code to legitimate sites, which would cause us to show the warning message."
