Hindu Blog Turns 1

Hindu Blog was born on September 7, 2006 – exactly one year ago today. Initially, the blog concentrated on Hinduism and Nature and posted only links to articles in newspapers. Then came the ‘quote of the day posts’, which still continues. Frankly, I had no idea how to go about and there were no existing Hindu religious blog to emulate. So I tried to become a bit of a rebel sometimes, tried to concentrate on diverse topics, created irrelevant posts and committed several blunders and mistakes. The net result no visitors in the first few weeks and less than 100 visitors in the first two months.

But strangely the idea of giving up never came to my mind because each day through the numerous newspaper articles related to Hinduism, I was learning more and more about this great religion. Soon, I realized that I can use this blog as a platform to learn about Santana Dharma, which I continue to do.

The blog today discusses all aspects related to Hinduism. Each day I use this blog to explore Hinduism more and more and share what I learn.

The greatest strength of this blog is the search engine readers – people who find the blog through Google, Yahoo etc. Today, the blog has over 100 subscribers and has had over 1,65,000 visitors. The blog receives more than 10000 unique visitors each month. This when a Hindu community spirit is yet to take place on the blogosphere. Also when religious blogging is considered a poor niche.

For Hindu Blog, each day is a new learning experience, a new opportunity to connect, new friends to learn from and share knowledge about Santana Dharma.

This is a good blog - an underserved niche as it were. Keep at it - you could actually enhance it from what it is today.

I only found this site a few weeks ago, a little while after learning that a lot of the way that I've been thinking for years can be found in Hinduism. Thank you for the site; I've enjoyed and learned going through past articles and I look forward to the new ones.
