The Jagannath Ratha Yatra Festival at New York is part of the Festival of India celebrated by Hare Krishna Devotees. Like in the famous Puri Jagannath Ratha Festival, three large carts carrying Lord Krishna, Balrama and Subhadra are pulled through the streets of New York.
Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder of the worldwide Hare Krishna Movement inaugurated the New York City version of this ancient Hindu parade in 1976. Since then, it has been celebrated annually and has become a New York summer tradition.
In 2007, Jagannath Ratha Yatra Festival at New York was held on June 9.
