Tirupati Balaji to Visit Dalit Colonies

To fight the caste system, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has decided to initiate a program called ‘Dalita Govindam.’ As part of the program, the idol of Lord Venkateswara will be taken out to a Dalitwada (colony housing dalits) and the Lord will spend a night at the colony.

Temple priests will perform sacred rituals at the colony and will give ‘Veda Ashirvadam’ and share ‘Srivari Prasadam’ with the members of the colony. ‘Veda Ashirvadam’ is usually only given to the important devotees visiting the Tirupati temple.

The first ‘Dalita Govindam’ will take place at the Vemuru Dalit Wada colony in Tirupati Rural mandal on April 9 evening. (link)
