An ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva at Tungareshwar – deep inside Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Mumbai – is visited by more that 200,000 devotees during Mahashivratri – now anglicized as the ‘The Night of Shiva.’ The devotees also visit the caves at Kanheri in the national park. The caves part of the World Heritage Site of UNESCO was occupied by Buddhist monks from 2nd century AD.
From the base of Tungareshwar, there is a three kilometer hike to reach the 100-year-old temple. The walk passes through two streams. There is pond in the premise of the temple.

We are in progress to celebrate the wedding of Lord Shiva next year on 23rd FEBRUARY 2009. We will celebrate by carrying out all possible traditional rituals such as baraat of Lord Shiva from Lokhandwala circle to Goregaon, (final route yet to be finalized). Lord Shiva will be placed on a platform, with devotees dancing & praising the Lord throughout till the mandap.
At the mandap marriage of Lord Shiva & mother Parvati will be carried out in traditional way.
Prasad will be distributed, dinner and thandai will be served to the devotees.
We request you to contribute your offerings, for the wedding of lord Shiva & mother Parvati. We will appreciate your guidance and blessings throughout the procedure.
