Holy books in Hinduism were rendered orally. It was written down much later. And most the original texts are no longer available.
When the scriptures were written down several additions and deletions were made. Many writers often twisted the Holy Scriptures for the selfish needs of their community.
Sudheendra Kulkarni writes about one such incident in the Sunday express.
From Tulsi Ramayana: “Dhola gawanra sudra pasu naari, sakala taadan ke adhikari” (A drum, a rustic, a sudra, a beast and a woman - all these deserve to be beaten.)
He feels there is a need to reinterpret, and in some places modify, those aspects of our religious texts that are outdated.
I agree with him. Most of the Holy Scriptures in Hinduism has undergone several alterations during the past 5000 years. Most of these alterations were done with ulterior motives. As most of these lines are not in tune with the main theme of the scriptures.
One example: Valmiki composed the Ramayana from the deep pain he had when a bird was killed by a hunter. Such a person will never sing – ‘A drum, a rustic, a sudra, a beast and a woman - all these deserve to be beaten.’
Many people cleverly lift such lines to attack Hinduism. Hindu religion upholds reformation and therefore such references have no place in Hindu society.
Now, who will remove the objectionable references? A major endeavor has to be taken by Hindu
religious organizations from around the world. They should form an umbrella organization. They should make sure that all the new books printed do not contain such objectionable references. And they should condemn all the objectionable references.
Such an endeavor will bring Hindus under one platform where several other such contentious issues can be discussed.

Sir, don't know about the Tulasi Ramayana reference, but in Tamil Nadu, the rationalist named Periyar was said to have proclaimed cruelly that "the Brahmins are more contemptible than the snake, so you may not kill the snake but kill the Brahmin". Such has become the state of Hinduism, wherein by constantly reviving hate within the community, the whole fabric of society is being constantly undermined. These scum like Periyar do not dare to oppose the Muslims and the Christians (who have ruined the earth in the last 2000 years more than the Hindus did in 3 Yugas) but constantly engage in slandering the Brahmins (who of course are protected by Lord Vishnu Himself - see Vishnu Sahasranama)!
Now, I don't know whether we should amend the Tulasi Ramayanam because Tulasidasa is a sage par excellence and dear to Lord Rama, but as a first thing, definitely the Brahmins amongst the Hindus should be treated with respect and compassion in their own land. It is worthwhile to remember that "legend" says Parashurama gave away all the land he won over from the notorious Kshatriyas in India to the Brahmin sage Kashyapa and created Kerala in which He lived subsequently. I beseech our Hindus to treat the Brahmanas with less contempt and given better respect, recognition and moreover, kindness and compassion for their invaluable contributions in the form of Shastra, Dharma (ethics), Yoga and Art (Indian traditional Music).
Who else but they are worthy of guiding this great country being the forerunners in wisdom, knowledge, temperance, compassion and integrity?
I do agree that some scriptures may require a revision as that of Manu smriti (The favorite reference guide of Hindu haters to bash Sanatana dharma) as this may not be with the times. But I really don't know any Hindus quoting Manu smriti.

My answer is, you please think, if your holy books are altered and adultered in the past, then it means that they are not reliable, further they are not protected books from the God, now there is only one book in the world which is not adultered since 1440 years. and it is the Quoran.

@Ishrat ....read Quran properly and try to understand it. First develop some tolerance. Then you will understand that all roads lead to the same truth.
Your ignorance is that only your path is correct.
Hey Shekhar don't spoil your valuable time trying to advice these people. Ignore them. They are just here to create trouble.
