Guruvayur Shri Krishna Temple Drops the Idea of Renting Elephants

Earlier there was move to rent five important elephants of Guruvayur Shri Krishna Temple to a marriage function in Tamil Nadu. After protest from elephant lovers and devotees of Sree Guruvayurappan, the temple authorities have dropped the proposal.

The most majestic tusker of the state, Gajaratnam Guruvayur Padmanabhan, and the other four devaswom tuskers will not pose for the marriage extravaganza at Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu.

The devasom managing committee meeting held here on Tuesday cancelled its earlier decision to allow Guruvayur Padmanabhan and other four elephants of devaswom for the marriage ceremony to be held in January 2007.
